This training program is targeted at current or prospective coaches who want to equip and maximize themselves in terms of their professional development and coaching competency. It particularly focuses on a competent and skilled approach in coaching with mindfulness and a Strengths-focused approach.
This training is “Coach-Specific”, rather than “Resource-Specific”. (Our Resource-Specific training is under the Strengths Practitioner Training tab.)

As such, the program focuses on specific information, skills and competencies globally acknowledged as being critical for effective professional coaching. Participants are equipped with knowledge of the ICF Core Competencies, the ICF Code of Ethics and Core Coaching Skills.

Synchronous Class: 41 hours
Asynchronous Homework: 12 hours
Observed Coaching Synchronous: 5 hours
Supervision Synchronous: 2 hours

Core Competency: 51,5 hours
Resource: 6,5 hours

TOTAL HOURS AS PART OF THE INTERNATIONAL COACH FEDERATION (ACSTH) towards accreditation for ACC or PCC: 60

(60 hours is the minimum requirement to obtain an ACC Certification with ICF. Completing this course will mean you need not do any additional ICF ACSTH training.)

You may also do any selection of specific modules towards ICF CCE hours, should you require it.

Synchronous: Live Zoom meetings.

Asynchronous: Reading, assessments, Video clips, and homework assignments.

Apart from the foundational knowledge and skill for coaching, this course provides an approach that integrates Positive Psychology principles, and then adds a Strengths-based approach as a tool and resource for talent-based assessment, using the CliftonStrengths (StrengthsFinder) assessment as a supporting resource.

We provide a unique approach with unique Coaching Models that are tried and proven through years of professional coaching.

We offer two different styles of courses. A 6-day accelerated course for those who would like to complete the course in a faster time period or a 7-week course, for those who prefer to work through the content at a more gradual pace.

“Positive Synergy Coaching:  Certified Competency-based Coaching” offers a balanced integration of knowledge, skill, experience, practical application and creativity, presented by Accredited ICF Coaches with extensive professional experience in their fields of coaching.  Our training teaches the NEW REVISED Core Competencies of the ICF, as implemented in 2021.

Module 1

Personal introductions, Overview of content and structure, Description of Administrative arrangements like Class Attendance requirements, Expected Learning Outcomes, and requirements for certification and membership.  What is  Teaching on the Different Coaching Arenas, explaining nine different Coaching Arenas, Explaining Coaching Models.  Overview of competent coaching and the Positive Synergy approach.

Module 2

Overview on a typical Coaching Session, Explanation of the GROW Model in practice, Teaching on the Appreciative Inquiry Coaching Model, General Guidelines for effective Coaching, Explanation of different skills, competencies and resources, it’s relevance and differences between them.

Module 3

Overview of the Core Competencies as set out by the ICF.  The Ethical Standards as presented by ICF is worked through in detail.

Overview of the Core Competencies as set out by the ICF, Focus on Evoking Awareness.  The practice of Evoking Awareness is practised in Break Out Rooms and observed by Facilitators.   Partners with the client to transform learning and insight into action. Promotes client autonomy in the coaching process.

Online Practicum where students practice the Core Competencies in Breakout Rooms, while observed by facilitators.  Students rotate in 20-minute slots, and verbal feedback by Facilitator afterwards.

Module 4

Overview and teaching on the Strengths-based approach in Coaching, with reference to the use of the CliftonStrengths Assessment and language.  Overview on talents, strengths and weakness, and how this is important when coaching someone from the knowledge and application of the Core Competencies. ​

Review of Homework from Class 14, and then application in Break-Out Rooms, with specific emphasis on aligning the Strengths-based approach in synergy with the ICF Core Competencies. Instructions for recorded practicum Coaching Session with fellow student.​
